Mid-Term Practice Tests in Qatar: How to Train With Them
Why a practice test helps more than re-reading, how to take it under real exam conditions, how to read your result, and what Nova practice tests and answer models contain.

Many students spend the night before an exam re-reading lessons, then are surprised by questions whose wording they do not recognise. A practice test solves that problem: it puts you in the exam situation before the date, so you see where you stumble while you can still fix it.
Why does a practice test help more than re-reading?
- It shows what you do not know: reading gives a feeling of understanding, while a test shows the truth.
- It trains you on time: many students know the answer but lose minutes on one question.
- It gets you used to how questions are worded: what exactly is asked, how long should the answer be, how are marks distributed?
- It lowers anxiety: what you have seen before in a trial does not frighten you in the real thing.
What are Nova's practice tests?
For every grade and subject we offer two different practice tests (different numbers and contexts at the same difficulty), built on the published test specification for the first-semester mid-term: the number of questions, their types and marks, and the lessons each question covers. You find them on the study packs page under practice tests, for subjects such as Arabic, maths, science, social studies, Islamic education and English, and for the secondary subjects according to the track.
- The file with the two tests is free as a PDF, to print or solve on paper.
- The answer models are in a solved copy for QAR 10: a model answer to every question and how the marks are distributed.
- No listening or speaking in the written paper: whatever is assessed by listening or orally is done by the teacher in class separately, so the practice test trains only the written part.
How to take a practice test
- Choose a quiet time and prepare what you will have in the real exam (a pen, a ruler, and a calculator only if the subject allows it).
- Set a timer to the written exam time shown on the cover.
- Read the whole paper first, and start with what you know to build your confidence.
- Do not open the answers before the time is up or you have finished.
- Leave a few minutes to check at the end.
How to read your result
After finishing, mark with the answer model, and do not stop at the score. Give every mistake a reason:
- I did not know the fact: go back to the lesson.
- I knew it but applied it wrongly: solve two similar questions again.
- I did not understand what was asked: read the question aloud and ask yourself what action is required.
- I ran out of time: train yourself to set a maximum time for each question.
Then take the second practice test two or three days after reviewing your mistakes, and compare. The improvement between the two tests is what matters, not the absolute score.
A study pack and a practice test: a suggested order
Start with the study pack to revise the lessons, then take the first test to see where you stand, review your mistakes, and take the second test to confirm the improvement. If you have a younger sibling, the packs and tests are available for every grade from grade 3.

Open the study packs page, choose your grade, then the practice tests section for your subject. The download is free and needs no account, and the answer model is QAR 10 if you want it.
