A Two-Week Plan to Revise for the First-Semester Mid-Term With Study Packs and Practice Tests
A practical two-week schedule before the mid-terms: when to work through the pack, when to take the practice tests, and how a parent can help without studying in their child’s place.

Two weeks are enough to revise for the first-semester mid-term if they are used with a plan. This schedule is built on what helps students in most subjects, and you can adjust it for your subject and its number of lessons. We assume you are working with the study pack and the two practice tests available on the study packs page.
Before day one: fifteen minutes of preparation
- Download your subject's pack and the two practice tests, and print what you need.
- Write a list of the lessons the pack covers and mark each: mastered · average · weak.
- Pick two hours a week for each hard subject, instead of scattered hours with no fixed time.
Week one: understanding and practice
Days 1 to 3: weak lessons first
Start with the lessons marked «weak». Read the lesson summary in the pack (if it has one) or the lesson in the textbook, then try its questions before looking at the solution. Do not spend more than 45 minutes in a single session.
Days 4 and 5: average lessons
The same method, but faster. Mark with the solved copy in a different colour and write every mistake in a mistakes notebook.
Day 6: the first practice test
Take it under real exam conditions: its own time, no book. Then mark it with the answer model and write the reason for each mistake.
Day 7: rest and mistake review
No new material. Read the mistakes notebook and cross out what has become clear.
Week two: consolidation
Days 8 to 10: back to the mistakes
Redo the questions you got wrong, then solve similar questions from the pack in the same lesson. If a lesson still trips you up, this is the time to ask a teacher for help.
Day 11: the second practice test
Same conditions. Compare with the first test: where did you improve? Where did the mistake repeat?
Days 12 and 13: light revision
Go over summaries, rules and definitions. Do not start new topics, and do not stay up late.
Day 14: rest
Finish preparing your tools, check the exam timetable and date, and sleep early.
What is the parent's role?
- A quiet place and a fixed time: get your child used to a set hour every day that does not change.
- The simple question: «What did you revise today? What is still unclear?» helps more than questioning.
- Do not solve it for them: you may read a question together, but the attempt is theirs.
- Look at the practice test result with them calmly, and focus on the reason for the mistake, not the score.
- No comparing with siblings: every student has different weak points.
If you have more than one child
The packs are available for every grade from grade 3, so each child can work with their own pack. Make the revision hour the same in the house (each in their own subject), so the younger one feels part of the same effort.
When do you need a teacher?
If the student keeps stumbling on the same lesson after three attempts, delay only makes it worse. Nova offers private lessons and revision programs, which you can see on the programs page.
