Free IELTS-Style Mock Test in Qatar: Try the Full Exam Before the Real Day
Nova English Mock: a full IELTS-style Academic mock with all four skills — listening played once, timed reading, writing marked by the centre's director and a booked speaking interview — with an estimated band for each. Your first attempt is free.

Many students know their English well and are still caught out on IELTS day: a recording that is never repeated, one hour for three long passages, and an essay of at least 250 words against the clock. The gap between the band you want and the band you get is often familiarity with the exam format, not language level alone.
That is why Nova Educational Center has launched Nova English Mock: a full IELTS-style Academic mock you take on our website, with an estimated band for every skill — and your first attempt is free.
What is Nova English Mock?
A practice exam written by the Nova team with original content in the IELTS Academic format: the same sections, question types, timings and order. Start it from the mock test page with your name and phone number, then move from one section to the next just as in the real exam.
It is not an official test and is not endorsed by the IELTS partners. Its purpose is to show you where you stand before you book your official date, and to get you used to the timing and the format.
The sections
Listening — 40 questions (about 34 minutes)
Four parts in a row: an everyday conversation, a talk by one speaker, an academic discussion and a lecture. The recording is played once, with no pause and no rewind. You get time to read the questions before each part, then two minutes to check your answers. Question types include form and note completion, multiple choice and labelling a plan.
Reading — 40 questions (60 minutes)
Three academic passages, each shown beside its questions, and you can move between passages freely. Question types include True/False/Not Given, matching paragraphs, summary completion and choosing two answers from five.
Writing — two tasks (60 minutes)
- Task 1: describe a graph in at least 150 words (about 20 minutes).
- Task 2: an opinion essay of at least 250 words (about 40 minutes), which counts twice as much as Task 1.
You write on the website with a word counter, and the centre's director marks your writing on the four IELTS criteria: task achievement, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy.
Speaking — 11 to 14 minutes
After the first three sections, book your speaking interview on WhatsApp from your result page, at the centre or online. It has the usual three parts: questions about you, a two-minute talk on a topic, and a wider discussion.
How your score is worked out
- Listening and Reading: shown as soon as you submit — your correct answers out of 40, converted to a band with the published approximate tables.
- Writing: a band from the director's marking, shown on your result page with comments.
- Speaking: a band after your interview.
- Overall: the average of the four skills, rounded to the nearest half band, as in IELTS.
All bands are estimates, but they give you a clear picture of which skill needs the most work.
At the end of the mock you also receive a QAR 100 discount coupon for enrolling in English group classes at the centre, valid for one month.
Tips before you start
- Use headphones and a quiet place — the recording is not repeated.
- Set aside about three hours; you can take a short break between sections.
- Stay in the same browser until the end. Your answers save automatically, and if your connection drops you continue where you left off — the clock keeps running.
- Keep to the word limit in written answers; spelling counts.
- In writing, go comfortably past the minimum word count — a short essay loses marks for task achievement.

Frequently asked questions
Is the result official?
No. It is an estimate from an independent mock to show your level, and it is not a substitute for an official IELTS result.
Is the mock really free?
Yes. Your first attempt is free for each phone number, with all four sections, including writing and speaking marking.
When will I see my writing band?
Once it has been marked at the centre. Reopen the mock page in the same browser to see it; you also get a reference number to ask the centre from any device.
Is it suitable for school students?
Yes — for Grade 11 and 12 students preparing for university admission, and for anyone who needs IELTS Academic.
